Terms of Use

This is a draft for the MVP. The text has not been reviewed by legal counsel and should be revised before any broader rollout.

The Service

FamilyAssistant is a self-hosted household assistant for planning weekly meals, shopping lists, pantry inventory, chores, and related AI features. The service is provided "as is" without any warranty as to availability, accuracy, or fitness for any particular purpose.

Account and Responsibility

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

AI Features

AI suggestions about food, recipes, and allergy checks are advisory, not medical advice. Always double-check ingredients and contents yourself in case of serious allergies. Each family uses its own LLM provider and its own credentials; FamilyAssistant neither stores nor forwards these beyond what is necessary to perform the AI call itself.

Your Content

You retain all rights to the content you enter (recipes, notes, receipt images, etc.). You grant FamilyAssistant a non-exclusive license to store and process the content in order to deliver the service. The license terminates when you delete the content or the account.

Termination

You may delete your account at any time via DELETE /api/me or "Delete my account" under the Privacy tab. Data is hard-deleted after 30 days (soft-delete window). Family owners must transfer ownership or delete the family first — see the privacy policy for details.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Norwegian law, all liability is disclaimed for indirect losses, loss of data, lost profits, or consequential damages arising from use of the service. FamilyAssistant is not a paid SaaS and is provided without any SLA.

Changes to Terms

Material changes will be communicated via the service or by email to the registered address at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after this period constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

Governing Law and Venue

These terms are governed by Norwegian law. Disputes that cannot be resolved amicably will fall under the jurisdiction of the ordinary Norwegian courts.
